CGHR Practitioner Series: Meet Dr. Matthew Gillett

The CGHR Practitioner Series allows students to hear from and ask questions of high-level experts working in international politics, journalism, development and humanitarianism.

Come join us for an exciting event at the Alison Richard Building, Room S1 where we will be hosting Dr. Matthew Gillett for our CGHR Practitioner Series. Matthew is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex and a United Nations Special Mandate Holder (Chair-Rapporteur of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention). Previously, he worked for around 15 years prosecuting international crimes cases in the Hague. He writes on Ecocide, Human Rights, Speech Crimes, and International Criminal Law. In 2022, he published his monograph “Prosecuting Environmental Harm before the International Criminal Court” (CUP), and has won multiple awards for his research.

This in person event will provide a unique opportunity to meet and learn from Matthew. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn about him and his journey, to network and to be inspired!

This talk is part of the Centre of Governance and Human Rights Events series.
