About Keynote Speaker:

PROFESSOR SIR NASSER D . KHALILI is a world-renowned scholar, collector, philanthropist, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. Sir David, a distinguished scholar and collector of Islamic art is an academic benefactor. He has curated one of the world’s largest private art collections, comprising 35,000 works exhibited in 44 museums worldwide. His academic contributions include publishing over eighty volumes on his collections, involving leading global experts. Sir David established the Nasser D. Khalili Chair of Islamic Art and Archaeology at SOAS , and a visiting professorship at Queens College, CUNY . He is a Fellow of the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development (CRSD) at the University of Cambridge, UK.

Through the Khalili Foundation, Sir David uses art to promote peace and cultural understanding, collaborating with UNESCO , the Commonwealth, and the Prince’s Trust. His foundation’s significant projects include the ‘Faith in the Commonwealth’ initiative, enhancing global citizenship and religious literacy among youth. Additionally, as a co-founder of the Global Hope Coalition, Sir David leads efforts to empower communities against extremism and intolerance. His numerous honorary fellowships and awards underscore his influential role in global cultural and educational fields.

As a Fellow at the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development (CRSD) at the University of Cambridge, on May 23 he will be reflecting on his commitment to sustainability and resilience in educational initiatives.
