In this lecture, I will explore the use of mixed research methods in economic geography, drawing on my research on land value capture in English local governance. I will reflect on the need to open up methodological silos and argue that integrating qualitative and quantitative methods strengthens our understanding of causal mechanisms and research questions of interest to economic geographers.
