The design of a competitive F1 car requires extensive teams of aerodynamicists to work together in a race against competitors to add aerodynamic performance to the car as quickly as possible. The talk will focus on the nature of this race, first looking at the rules, then discovering the details of the aerodynamic flowfield of a Formula 1 car, before ending with an illustration of some of the techniques used to accelerate the development of the car.
