If you have a question about this talk, please contact Jo Boyle. Mike Weightman will provide his personal thoughts on the accident, the continuing lessons from it, and what it means for future leaders in the nuclear industry. In May 2011 in response to a request from the then Secretary of State, Mike produced a report on the immediate lessons for the UK’s nuclear power industry, and in May/June of that year led an IAEA international team of world expects on a fact-finding mission to Japan. Since then he has continued to provide advice to the Japanese’s government Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation (NDF) on the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi, and led related international meetings and reports.
