Former Government Legal Service lawyer Charles Raikes will be taking us through the front doors of Whitehall and showing us something of the administrative and legislative processes of UK government. Charles’ talk will include observations in the areas of finance, regulation and tax, informed by his time in the Treasury Solicitor’s Office.

The talk will also be helpful for those considering a career in the Government Legal Service. In a career that spanned topics as diverse as mining, banking, charities and export controls, Charles has a considerable breadth of experience to share.

Cambridge Tax Discussion Group meetings are open to all; no prior knowledge of tax is required.
