If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr Nicola Jones. This year’s Peter Wilson Lecture will be given by Dan Labbad, Chief Executive of the Crown Estate. Following his talk, Dan will be in conversation with the Master, Baroness Morgan of Huyton, Dr Emma Lees (Fitzwilliam Peter Wilson EG Fellow in Land Economy, https://www.fitz.cam.ac.uk/people/dr-emma-lees) and Ian Marcus CBE (Fitz, 1977), President of the Cambridge University Land Society. Dan’s talk will reflect on the remarkable shift in the importance of sustainability since he studied Engineering in the 80s, the need to think ambitiously about environmental responsibility and the importance of UK PLC in driving change. In a major vote of confidence in the UK’s green economy and net zero ambitions, in February 2021 The Crown Estate announced six proposed new offshore wind projects in the waters around England and Wales. The six Round 4 projects together represent just under 8 GW of potential new offshore wind capacity with the opportunity to deliver clean electricity for more than seven million homes and create employment opportunities across the country. Dan Labbad was appointed to Chief Executive of The Crown Estate in December 2019 and is an Executive Member of the Board. He was previously at Lendlease, where he was Chief Executive Officer of Europe from 2009. Between August 2014 and July 2018, Dan held the dual roles of Chief Executive Officer, International Operations and Europe, where he was responsible for overseeing the disciplined expansion of Lendlease’s Europe, Americas and Asia regions. Dan has a long-standing commitment to regeneration, sustainability and digital and technical education. Ian Marcus CBE , graduated from Fitzwilliam in 1981 with a degree in Land Economy.
