An introduction to business modelling - a guide for postdocs

This workshop will provide postdocs with an overview to business modelling and will take them through how to use the business model canvas effectively when applying to the 2019 Postdoc Business Plan Competition.

The event will be run by Ludo Chapman of The Innovation Practice. Ludo has over 30 years’ business experience launching and leading start-ups. He started out by setting up a software training company before becoming CEO of a scientific instrument business.

Event details:

  • Date: Thursday 6th June, 2019
  • Time: 6 – 8 pm onward (catering provided)
  • Location: Eastwood Room, OPdA Postdoc Centre, 16 Mill Lane.

What will be included:

  • An Introduction the concept of business modelling
  • Explanation of how to use the business model canvas
  • Demonstration of a real-life example
  • Participants to build a business model for a well-known organisation
  • Outline of how business modelling could help in the competition
  • A forum to ask questions.

This workshop is held in conjunction with the 2019 Postdoc Business Plan Competition and participants will find this event useful if planning to enter the competition or as a standalone event.
