If you have a question about this talk, please contact Joseph Ibrahim. Bodies with wide recirculating wake concern most of vehicles in the transport industries such as cars, lorries or ships superstructure. The large drag induced by the wake is an important source of waste of energy that requires to be addressed for sustainability of our future vehicles. The seminar will present recent progress in the comprehension of the global wake dynamics about the identification of the static symmetry breaking mode and its important contribution to the aerodynamic loading. The work will focus on both academic and industrial geometries (real cars) to demonstrate the promising potential of drag reduction using flow control.
