Professor Anthony M. Snodgrass, chairman of the British Committee for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles and Laurence Professor Emeritus of Classical Archaeology at the University of Cambridge will give a lecture on Thursday 15 of May 2008 titled:

“The Parthenon Divided”

The Parthenon (“Elgin”) Marbles, a collection of ancient Greek marble sculptures comprising about half of the extant sculptural decoration that once adorned the Parthenon in Athens, have been in England since the early 19th century. The completion of the New Acropolis Museum in Athens now provides an excellent opportunity for the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles, so as to be best exhibited for the benefit of all humanity.

The lecture will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the the Ramsden Room St Catharine’s College, Trumpington Street Cambridge CB2 1RL
