The Cambridge International Development Conference 2019 aims to create a space for students and professionals to connect with those working at the forefront of international development; whether formulating policy, developing new strategies on the ground, or expanding the academic discipline. With an exciting lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking sessions, this event is definitely not to be missed! This year’s theme is ‘Faces of Equality’, focusing on the people and organisations who work to make the world a fairer and more equal place. Equality, or perhaps more accurately inequality, is without doubt one of the most important issues across the globe today. With the richest 4% of the population controlling over 45% of the world’s wealth, it is clear that a major focus must be placed on finding solutions to tackle this staggering divide. When considering what constitutes true equality, economic wealth is just one piece of the puzzle; the interplay between health, education, geography and technology also cannot be forgotten. Confirmed Speakers include: -Baroness Caroline Cox – Founder of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust -Harriet Lamb, CEO of International Alert -Leah Moss – Policy and Advocacy Officer at Plan International Our 3 Panels throughout the day, themed Women, Climate, and Health in Equality respectively, will provide a change to explore a range of concepts in depth and draw parallels between the work done by a range of inspirational organisations. The Conference will also feature a networking hour, where a range of equality-focused societies and organisations will come together to connect with attendees and discuss their work. Our full speaker lineup will be announced soon! For more information and full speaker bios, please head to our facebook page- ‘Cambridge International Development Conference’.
