If you have a question about this talk, please contact glanville. The 2019 Glanville Lecture will be given by Dr Koen Donker van Heel (Leiden University). He will examine a newly acquired papyrus by the British Museum dating to the 7th century BC. This presents a great number of difficulties. First: it is written in abnormal hieratic, a dreadful shorthand. Second: there are many women in it who are clearly acting in some professional capacity. But why? And where does this papyrus come from? This talk is part of the Glanville Lecture series. This talk is included in these lists:Note that ex-directory lists are not shown. |
