Mr. Shingai S. Mutasa is a Zimbabwean businessman whose entrepreneurial journey started after he graduated from University College London with a (Hons) B.Sc. in Economics. He returned to Zimbabwe in 1980 where he started the journey as a commodity broker for his family business. He has since started many businesses and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Masawara Zimbabwe – which he established in 2010 – and he is the Director of Masawara plc, a company with holdings in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia, formely listed on the London AIM ; (AIM – formerly the Alternative Investment Market – is a sub-market of the London Stock Exchange). Mr. Mutasa has also been a Non-executive Director of the Africa Opportunity Fund since 2007 and has served as the Non-executive Chairman of listed TA Holdings Limited since November 1997. He previously held various board and director positions, including Zimnat Lion Insurance Company, Dandemutande Investments (Private) Limited and ZimNRG plc (now known as MetalNRG plc), to name a few.
