It has proved difficult to access Drosophila’s sensory organs tucked as they are into tiny exoskeletal compartments like the antennae. I will discuss a method we have developed to open such compartments for physiological and pharmacological experiments, together with our recent findings using this technique. In addition, I will talk about our exploration of Drosophila’s frontal pulsatile organ, which drives haemolymph through the antennae.
