In this seminar I will talk about finishing the PhD and making the transition to a first research position, reflecting on my recent experiences of interviewing at Microsoft, writing up and submitting my dissertation, relocating to China, and returning to Cambridge for the viva voce examination. I will also describe what life is like in Beijing, as well as the nature of my new role as a researcher in Microsoft Research Asia. This talk is part of the Rainbow Interaction Seminars series.
