GIST Scholarship provides full financial support to the students of GIST in order to promote scientific technologists and encourage them towards more innovations. It is a project of the university with the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology. At GIST , students are empowered with an international research environment that can help them grow as world-class scientists and engineers.

One unique advantage of GIST is its short term abroad program. The scholarships will help the students to develop their language skills by spending some months in South Korea. Scholarships are available for students majoring in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering; material science and engineering; earth science and environmental engineering; life science; physics, photonics, and chemistry; nanobiomaterials and electronics; artificial intelligence and integrated technology.

The GIST international scholarships are awarded based on the merit of the applicants. The candidates should submit the required documents including research statement and CV along with their application form, Undergraduate transcript, statement of purpose and recommendation letters.

Candidates can apply for this scholarship online. The applicants should be resident in any part of the world and have enrolled for any postgraduate program at GIST . If the applicant belongs to a developing country, he/she should have to award from an international body or a local government or other official agency on the basis of merit in their field of study.

Eligibility for GIST Scholarship

The scholarship is available for students who will pursue MS or PhD in any field of Engineering or Technology at GIST . Furthermore, the applicants must possess good academic records and have very good research skills.

The following are the eligible candidates for GIST International Scholarship. The candidates are required to satisfy following criteria:

1. Open to all International Students (All international students are eligible to apply for the GIST Scholarship): International students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in any science-related field and have enrolled for their PhD program can also apply for GIST Scholarship. Applicants must have good academic records and research experience in their respective field.

2. Possess Bachelor’s Degree (Applicants applying for the Masters program must hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree): Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any science-related field from a degree-granting educational institution recognized by the government of South Korea.

3. Possess Master’s Degree (Applicants applying for the Ph.D. program must hold a master’s or equivalent degree): Applicants must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent degree from a degree-granting educational institution recognized by the government of South Korea.

4. Good Academic Record (The applicant should have good academic record): Applicants should have good academic records, demonstrated leadership skills and research abilities (as evidenced by published papers). They are also required to have good language proficiency in English with scores that prove it.

Benefits of Scholarship

The GIST International Scholarship is offered by the government of South Korea and is awarded to international students who are willing to study at GIST . The applicants will receive many benefits by getting this scholarship such as:

1. Free Tuition: The successful applicant will get free tuition fees throughout the course during their study period in GIST . International students will also be exempted from the payment of tuition fees for all classes at the undergraduate level for the first year after he/she has been admitted. The daily expenses (on food, accommodation, textbooks) during international student’s stay at GIST will also be covered.

2. They can also participate in national and international competitions. By being a part of this program, they can also gradually build their careers in working environments abroad after they complete their PhD studies.

3. Submit Your Documents: The applicants don’t need to submit the documents in hard copy because they will directly send their application forms, Undergraduate transcript, statement of purpose and recommendation letters via e-mail.

4. Application Confirmation: The applicants will get an email confirmation upon completion of the application process to confirm that their application form has been successfully submitted.
