Neuroimaging is moving forward from photography, where static pictures of brain activity are being taken, to films revealing the spreading of brain activation in time and space in the millisecond range. Magnetoencephalography, or MEG , and other neurophysiological imaging techniques can provide the necessary temporal resolution. As Cambridge is in the process of acquiring a new facility for non-invasive recording of fast magnetic brain responses, there is an increasing interest in using this method in the investigation of brain and cognition. This course aims at providing a basic introduction into MEG methods and their use in the investigation of cognitive brain processes.
