DESCRIPTION:St John's College annual Linacre Lecture\, founded in 1524 by 
 Thomas Linacre\, physician to Henry VIII and first President of the Royal 
 College of Physicians\, will take place on Monday 12th February and will b
 e preceeded by tea in the foyer at 4:15. \n\nOur speaker this year is Prof
 essor Sir Peter Ratcliffe founder of the Hypoxia Laboratory at the Weather
 all Institute of Molecular Medicine\, Oxford. \n\nHis talk is entitled: 
 ‘Elucidation of hypoxia signalling pathways: implications for medicine
 ’\n\nProfessor Ratcliffe's achievements have been recognised by a number
  of awards including the Louis-Jeantet Prize in Medicine\, the Canada Gair
 dner International Award and the Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Awar
 d. He was knighted for services to medicine in 2014.\n\nThis event is free
  and open to all! Please do join us for refreshments at 4:15
