DESCRIPTION:In recent years 'book history' or 'the history of the book' ha
s attracted increasing academic interest as a subdiscipline in the humanit
ies. I have been involved in this development since the 1980s and in very
diverse ways. Recently I've been trying to think about broader\, comparati
ve and global perspectives that consider the interaction between tradition
al bibliography and new book histories and that might intersect to an even
greater extent with other disciplinary interests. This talk will want exp
 lore some of these ideas.
