DESCRIPTION:The Journal club will discuss:\n\nRoberts et.al.\; Phys. Rev.
 Lett\, 84\, 7\, 1547\; "Angle-Resonant Stimulated Polariton Amplifier"\n\n
Abstract:\n\nWe experimentally demonstrate resonant coupling between photo
ns and excitons in microcavities\nwhich can efficiently generate enormous
single-pass optical gains approaching 100. This new parametric\nphenomenon
appears as a sharp angular resonance of the incoming pump beam\, at which
the moving\nexcitonic polaritons undergo very large changes in momentum.
Ultrafast stimulated scattering is clearly\nidentified from the exponentia
l dependence on pump intensity. This device utilizes boson amplification\n
 induced by stimulated energy relaxation.
