DESCRIPTION:Nature has invented a number of tricks and strategies by which
the behaviour of proteins and other biomolecular machines can be finely c
ontrolled. These highly optimized and evolved mechanisms allow to control
biological pathways with different chemical and environmental stimuli and
are at the basis of the high specificity and selectivity of biomolecular m
achines. \n\nMotivated by the above arguments we have characterized and re
created in-vitro several mechanisms to control the response of DNA-based n
anodevices for diagnostic and drug-delivery applications (1-2). \n\nUsing
these mechanisms we can finely control the activity of DNA-based nanodevic
es with different chemical and environmental stimuli including pH (3-8)\,
antibodies (2-3)\, enzymes (9)\, small molecules (10) and electronic input
s (11). \n\nI will present an overview of the most representative and rece
nt examples developed in our lab in the above research directions and I wi
ll give a brief presentation of the new routes and possibilities that thes
 e results offer. \n\n\nReferences\n[1]	Porchetta. A.\, et al.\, J. Am. Che
