DESCRIPTION:Modelling spread of veterinary infectious diseases
at the farm level has many advantages in terms of
trying to understand prevalent modes of transmiss
ion\, and the construction of appropriate control
strategies. However for large numbers of farms\, l
 ikelihood-based inference is methodologically chal
lenging\, particularly on-line inference as the ep
idemic progresses. This talk will describe a Baye
sian approach to inference and prediction\, focusi
ng on Avian Infuenza in the poultry industry and F
 oot and Mouth Disease.
