DESCRIPTION:Rupture-resistant filter cakes for wellbore strengthening - Ni
kzad Falahati\n\nLost circulation during the drilling process is estimated
to cost 2 to 4 billion dollars annually\, due to non-productive time and
the loss of expensive drilling mud materials. Wellbore strengthening techn
iques have been developed to maintain the integrity of the wellbore\, prev
enting lost circulation through fractures\, but current techniques produce
practical difficulties. This study aims to use the filter cake that natur
ally forms on the internal surface of the wellbore to produce a rupture-re
sistant seal across the fractures. This will be achieved by investigating
the influence of drilling mud constituents on filter cake properties\, and
\, by understanding how the mechanical properties of the filter cakes can
be optimised.\n\nSimulator of underground water flow and transport process
es - Jan Hybs\n\nThe purpose of this talk is to briefly introduce numerica
 l software Flow123d - a simulator of underground water flow\, solute and h
eat transport in fractured porous media. The software supports computation
s on complex meshes consisting of simplicial elements of different dimensi
ons. The talk will describe future goals in HPC (high performance computin
 g) and CI (continuous integration).\n
