DESCRIPTION:Continuous fields play the role of bundles of C*-algebra
s (in the sense of topology). The bundle structure that underlines a conti
nuous fields is typically not locally trivial.

We will start by
introducing various classes of examples. Thereafter\, we will discuss obst
ructions to local triviality and give an introduction to topological invar
iants such as parametrized K-theory. Finally\, we will present a generaliz
ed Dixmier-Douady theory obtained in joint work with Ulrich Pennig.
