DESCRIPTION:'European Legal Dialogues' is a new initiative\, which will be
organised annually at Wolfson College in memory of Professor Sir David Wi
lliams\, former President of the College\, former Vice-Chancellor of the U
niversity of Cambridge and former President of the European Scientific Cou
ncil of the EPLO (European Public Law Organisation). \n\nThe title of this
year’s event is ‘The contribution of Judges to the Development of Pub
lic Law’\, a theme of first priority\, and will be presided over by The
Right Honourable Lord Justice John Laws.\n\nThe idea is to contribute in t
he homogenization of the understanding of Law in a pan-European and global
ized world and to promote the idea that despite differences in local legal
systems tainted mainly by history and procedural differences\, the Law de
rives from the same principles\, concepts and ideas. \n\nThe full title 'T
he Wolfson College Cambridge\, Professor Sir David Williams\, European Leg
al Dialogues' is a project directed by Professor David Feldman and Profess
or Spyridon Flogaitis. The Scientific Secretariat is under the responsibil
ity of Professor George Gerapetritis.\n\nThe event will take the form of a
three-hour discussion of Socratic-platonic character led and animated by
the Right Honorable Lord Justice John Laws\, between two distinguished law
yers\, one common lawyer and one continental European lawyer\, with the pa
rticipation of the public where a few distinguished personalities from con
tinental Europe and Great Britain or overseas\, shall be invited to partic
ipate actively as discussants.\n\nStarting at 3pm and concluding by 6pm\,
a formal dinner for registered participants will follow\, as part of the C
ollege's formal dinner of the day.\n\nThe event itself is free. For inform
ation on the cost of the optional dinner and overnight accommodation if de
sired\, please visit the Registration page of the Event's website: http://
