DESCRIPTION:Cambridge has an increasing demand for more high-quality gradu
ate accommodation to meet the future growth strategy of the University\, t
he Colleges and the City. \n\nThe Cranmer Road project has developed as a
practical response to this growing need. The project amalgamates some of K
ing's College's central sites to create a new 'graduate campus'. It is bui
lding for the long-term by working to a 100 year design life for new build
ings. It responds to environmental concerns and projected fuel costs with
a very low energy all-electric scheme and it utilises Passivhaus standard
as the method to deliver these energetic\, environmental\, and economic be
nefits.\n\nThis presentation describes the project\, the Passivhaus proces
s\, and reflects on the lessons learned from an architectural and engineer
 ing perspective.\n
