DESCRIPTION:The establishment of motile cilia orientation (cilia polarity)
during embryonic development is orchestrated by mechanical forces. Howeve
r\, the actual nature of these forces and their transduction remain unknow
 n. \nIn order to understand this process\, we consider the multi-ciliated
cells (MCCs) on the Xenopus larval skin\, and set-up an experiment for th
e live-imaging of MCCs during the application of an external flow. After d
iscussing the basic hydrodynamics of the system\, I will show preliminary
results on the response of intracellular ciliary structures to the applied
  forces.
