DESCRIPTION:The study of graphs associated to groups has revol
utionised group theory\, allowing us to use geomet
ric intuition to study algebraic objects. We will
focus here on the case of groups admitting many fi
nite quotients. Geometric properties of a collecti
on of finite quotients of a group can provide info
rmation about the group if the set of finite quoti
ents is sufficiently rich\, and one can exploit th
e connections between the world of group theory an
d graph theory to give examples of metric spaces w
ith interesting and often surprising properties. I
n this talk\, we will describe some results in thi
s direction\, and then give recent results concern
ing the geometric rigidity of finite quotients of
