DESCRIPTION:Shifting emphasis from the sensor to the sensor system\, just
how do we see sensors influencing the world of tomorrow? This talk will us
e the SESAME project to illustrate some of the challenges facing researche
rs into the sensor networks of tomorrow. SESAME is an ambitious research p
roject that seeks to develop a cutting edge sensing system to assist coach
ing in sport. It faces issues relating to data reliability\, communication
 \, interpretation\, storage\, and mining\; aesthetics\, durability and eff
iciency\; and non-expert interaction and control. SESAME serves as a micro
cosm of the touted ubiquitous sensor networks of tomorrow - so just how fa
r can we go with it today?
