DESCRIPTION:Tony Purnell\, Head of Technical Development at British Cyclin
 g\, will talk about how engineering helped Great Britain top the cycling m
 edal table at the Rio 2016 Olympics.\n\nProfessor Tony Purnell FRSA is the
  Head of Technical Development at British Cycling\, where he works across 
 all aspects of technology – from improving data analysis to assisting th
 e coaches with the development of organisational software and tools to opt
 imise rider performance. Tony Purnell is Visiting Professor at Cambridge U
 niversity Engineering Department\, and a Fellow-Commoner in Engineering at
  Trinity Hall Cambridge. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Manchester U
 niversity and a masters the MIT Sloan School of Management. His dissertati
 on was on Formula One aerodynamics. He founded Pi Research\, was principal
  of the Jaguar and Red Bull Formula One teams and a technical consultant t
 o the FIA and IndyCar Series.\n\nThis is a joint event with the I Mech E. 
  It is anticipated that as the event is being held in Cambridge with its p
