DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for a private guided tour of this fascinating
  museum. The Whipple's stunning collection includes scientific instruments
 \, apparatus\, models\, pictures\, prints\, photographs\, books and other 
 material related to the history of science. \n \nDuring the tour we will b
 e given the rare opportunity to inspect some select items relating to the 
 history of chemistry\, e.g. an Austrian chemical slide rule from the 1820s
  that can only really be appreciated up close.\n \nThe collection contains
  objects dating from the medieval period to the present day but the museum
 's holdings are particularly strong in material dating from the 17th to th
 e 19th centuries\, especially objects produced by English instrument maker
 s. Instruments of astronomy\, navigation\, surveying\, drawing and calcula
 ting are well represented\, as are sundials\, mathematical instruments and
  early electrical apparatus. The Whipple Museum was founded in 1944 when R
 obert Stewart Whipple presented his collection of scientific instruments t
 o the University of Cambridge.\n \nLimited number of tickets so book early
