 ombinations. Preliminary reflections on this view 
 of human utterance from an evolutionary point of v
 iew will be offered.\n\n*About the speaker*\n\nPro
 fessor Adam Kendon is a leading expert in the fiel
 d of nonverbal communication. Over the course of h
 is academic career he has published numerous artic
 les and books on gesture\, language evolution and 
 social coordination that have been foundational to
  contemporary work on human communication. Prof Ke
 ndon completed his PhD at Oxford\, and has taught 
 at several universities including Cornell\, the Un
 iversity of Pennsylvania\, and University College 
 London. He is currently affiliated to the Departme
 nt of Archeology and Anthropology at the Universit
 y of Cambridge.
