 n in the late 1960s\; a handful of English hippies
  get switched on to Sufism. Returning from Morocco
  intent on bringing Islam to the West\, they estab
 lish a communal squat in Maida Vale before attempt
 ing to build a ‘Muslim village’ in the remote Norf
 olk countryside.\n\nMeanwhile in Brixton\, a group
  of young West Indians\, also attracted to Sufism\
 , find themselves fighting off puritanical extremi
 sts who deem their beliefs heretical and their blo
 od ‘halal’. \n\nBlessed are the Strangers tells th
 e story of how these two very different groups of 
 people came together to form Britain’s most divers
 e Muslim convert community. \n\n**Doors open at 18
