DESCRIPTION:Resilience is a concept that is talked about by academics\, po
licy makers and industry leaders. It spans across domains\, from ecology t
o engineering\, but what does resilience actually mean and how do you make
a system resilient? In this talk I will show how my thinking about resili
ence has developed based on interviews and workshops with stakeholders of
socio-technical systems. My work has explored the relationship between res
ilience and other concepts including robustness\, flexibility and adaptabi
lity. Three characteristics of resilient systems have been identified and
represented using abstract diagrams. The current findings are now being us
ed to design an interview study that aims to show how to increase stakehol
 der understanding of resilience
