DESCRIPTION:The  Concept Lab is a digital humanities project situated with
 in the Centre for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences that seek
 s to apply computational methods to historical and contemporary corpora to
  explore “histories of words\, concepts and usages that heretofore have 
 provided the common currency of the history of ideas\,” among other goal
 s. I will present tools and methods that we have been applying to investig
 ate changes in associations between words over time and to identify networ
 ks of highly associated terms in large diachronic corpora. Finally\, I wil
 l highlight a few case studies that illustrate how these techniques can be
  applied in tandem with qualitative methods to shed light on lexical and c
 onceptual histories.
