DESCRIPTION:As one of the promising approaches in generating a
dvanced materials\, Biomimetics offers to material
s scientists and engineers a sustainable path to l
earn from nature in the development of high perfor
mance next generation materials. This workshop in
tends to cover both the fundamental exploration of
materials inspired by biological systems in natur
e\, and their fabrication and applications in toda
y technology. \n\nThe objective of the Nature Insp
ired Manufacturing Workshop is the application of
Biomimetic principles to create products offering
novelty\, competitive market value\, and manufactu
ring using conventional and new sustainable method
 s. Strong emphasis is put on the science and engin
eering for the creation of wealth for the benefits
of industry and society. We want to generate econ
omic impact in society through a multidisciplinary
approach\, engaging all science from engineering
to humanities\, but also strongly involve industri
al partners.\n\nThe two day workshop includes talk
s of scientists\, engineers as well as company rep
resentatives who will describe their experience in
utilising nature for man-made processes and produ
cts. The workshop will conclude with a panel discu
ssion on the challenges in translating biological
 processes into engineering principles.\n\nOrganisi
