DESCRIPTION:Anisotropic Janus colloids are emerging building b
locks for programmable self-assembly of materials.
So far\, experimental studies on the self-assembl
y of Janus particles have focused on the behavior
of small clusters formed in dilute suspensions\, m
ainly due to the scarcity of the available colloid
 s. Here\, we demonstrate a simple\, yet versatile
method yielding monodisperse colloids that possess
anisotropy in both shape and chemistry. We observ
e that these particles exhibit hierarchical self-a
ssembly: they first form inverse cylindrical "mice
lles"\, which subsequently stack into highly order
ed lanes and ultimately form macroscopic structure
 s. Computer simulations shine further light on the
  observed structures.
