 \, even when those claims come from the Russian president? Eliot Higgins (
 Bellingcat\, Kings College London) and Maksymilian Czuperski (Atlantic Cou
 ncil) will be presenting on the open source intelligence tools and techniq
 ues increasingly used by citizen journalists\; they will detail the digita
 l forensics used in their recent publication\, "Hiding in Plain Sight"\, w
 hich exposes Russia's involvement in Ukraine.\n\nThis event will also incl
 ude a report launch on the landscape of social media verification\, examin
 ing the practices of NGOs\, media companies\, academic projects\, and gove
 rnments in using social media to monitor and verify claims\, especially in
  the context of human rights. This report was written as part of The Whist
