DESCRIPTION:Motivated by problem of inferring the molecular dy
namics of DNA in solution\, and linking the dynami
cs with the base-pair composition\, we consider th
e problem of estimation and comparison of the dyna
mics of (stationary) time series of curves.\n\nWe
tackle the problem of estimation and comparison of
the dynamics of time series of curves by a freque
ncy domain approach: intuitively\, this consists i
n decomposing the oscillation of the time series o
f curves into oscillations at distinct frequencies
. The frequency-wise fluctuation of the time serie
s\, which are contained in the so-called spectral
density operator (or spectra)\, can then be used t
o compare the dynamics of two time series of curve
s. In particular\, this is applied to comparing th
e dynamics of two DNA minicircle trajectories (obt
ained by Molecular Dynamics simulations). We carry
out hypothesis tests to compare their spectra\, a
nd localize their differences both in frequencies
and on the DNA minicircles.
