DESCRIPTION:This presentation will discuss the techniques used by audio fo
 rensic laboratories and surveillance organisations worldwide to combat the
  effects of noise and interference in non-ideal recording and listening en
 vironments. Examples of the use of various filters will be given\, and som
 e of the limitations encountered in the real world will be discussed.\n\nG
 ordon was educated as an Astrophysicist at Leicester University and Cambri
 dge University. An active musician and author\, he helped found CEDAR Audi
 o Ltd in 1989 and became the company's Managing Director in 1994. Over the
  past 25 years he has been widely published and has presented numerous pap
 ers and workshops ranging from the background and techniques of forensic a
 udio to the history\, technology and use of keyboard synthesisers. \n
