DESCRIPTION:Both in academia and outside\, public speaking skills are high
 ly\nvalued. Specifically\, academic success requires that you express\nyou
 r ideas clearly both in writing and in speaking. In this seminar\, we will
  focus on public speaking\, and reflect around some of the important princ
 iples that are required for good public speaking. Pu Shi\, who is a doctor
 al student at the Faculty of Education\, will share her personal experienc
 e in public speaking by examining attitudes and techniques that have helpe
 d her to improve the quality of her academic presentations. Beatrice Balfo
 ur\, who is doctoral student at the Faculty of Education and the current w
 elfare officer for FERSA\, will be running a section of the seminar as a w
 orkshop on how to best\nprepare for speeches. This seminar will be a space
  open to anyone who wants to share their own experience and to discuss the
 ir concerns about public speaking. The aim of the seminar is to offer the 
 opportunity to students to reflect around how to best present their though
 ts and ideas in academic contexts.\n
