DESCRIPTION:Gos Micklem did his PhD on yeast at the MRC Labora
 tory of Molecular Biology in  Cambridge and before
 \, during and after his post-doc at the ICRF in Lo
 ndon he was distracted by Drosophila in Maria Lept
 in’s lab in Tubingen. He then joined the young San
 ger Centre where he was responsible for setting up
  high throughput human genome sequence analysis wh
 en no-one ( including himself) knew how to do it. 
 After three years he left the Sanger Centre for a 
 Cambridge mouse (later human) genetics biotech sta
 rt-up where he was part of the founding management
  group and headed the bioinformatics group. \n\nFo
 ur years later he re-joined the academic world at 
 the Genetics Department in Cambridge doing more bi
 oinformatics. Since 2004 he has been a member of b
 oth the Genetics Department and the Department of 
 Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics where 
 despite not being a mathematician or a physicist h
 e is the Director of the Cambridge Computational B
 iology Institute.    \n
