DESCRIPTION:Dr. Antoine Balzeau applies new imaging methodologies to the s
tudy of human evolution. Such technologies allow the study of complex inne
r anatomical features and the discovery and description of unknown morphol
ogies. Dr. Balzeau will present some recent results on the study of brain
asymmetries in fossil hominins\, and on the description of previously unkn
own anatomical structures on key specimens such has Liang Bua 1 (the Hobbi
 t) and Broken Hill. For instance\, the study of the Hobbit reveals new pat
hologies and some taxonomically relevant features. Dr. Balzeau will also p
resent new results on the La Ferrassie site: through the re-study of the a
rchives and collections held in the Musée de l’Homme\, over 50 new huma
n remains\, including some Neandertal fossils were identified.
