DESCRIPTION:Abstract: CELAR is an elastic cloud overseer\, and SCAN is a f
 ramework for porting batch job pipelines to run under it. This talk examin
 es how\, combined\, they can make better use of cloud resources and achiev
 e better task latency than a classical HPC environment.\n\nBio: Chris was 
 a computer lab PhD student starting in 2010\, and will graduate in January
  2015. He studied program specialisation and contributed to the Ciel cloud
  computing infrastructure. He now works with Cancer Research UK\, affiliat
 ed with the University of Manchester\, developing SCAN as part of the CELA
 R project.\n
