DESCRIPTION: I will talk about my recent work (with Fernando Marques) wher
e we used Min-max Theory to settle some old open questions in Geometry:
 The Willmore conjecture - proposed 50 years ago\, the Freedman--He--Wang c
onjecture for links - proposed 20 years ago (jointly with Ian Agol)\, and
the existence of infinitely many minimal hypersurfaces in manifolds of pos
itive Ricci curvature\, which partially answers a question posed by Yau 3
 0 years ago.\n\n
