DESCRIPTION:We look at how the (Brout-Englert-)Higgs Boson fits together w
ith Cosmology\, in particular we discuss the different ways that the Higgs
can play a role in inflation. We will also discuss the constraints on th
e stability of the Higgs vacuum in the standard model and how such issues
become much more acute if there is a period of cosmological inflation. We
therefore describe how the Higgs vacuum places constraints on physics bey
ond the standard model and on the nature of the inflaton field. We'll als
o touch on the electroweak phase transition and how new physics such as da
rk matter might make it more interesting (i.e. fun first order instead of
 boring second order).
