DESCRIPTION:The use of the term ‘Nuclear Forensic Science’ began in th
 e early 1990s with the reporting of finds of nuclear material by law enfor
 cement agencies and subsequent court cases.  This presentation will demons
 trate how the skills and practices that had been developed by Radiochemist
 s since the discovery of radioactivity at the end of the 19th Century have
  been developed to be useful to answer questions of national importance if
  crimes involving radioactivity are discovered.  The presentation will con
 clude by showing how the techniques and procedures can be used to build up
  the previous history of an intercepted sample.
