ior World Bank representatives Randa Akeel and Simon Bell for a short pres
entation and conversation on encouraging:\n* entrepreneurship\, especially
for young people and women\n* access to finance for companies and individ
uals\n* and investment in infrastructure projects with long-term impact\nf
or sustainable social and economic development. Their presentation will fo
cus on the World Bank's work in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).\n
\n\nThis event is an informal opportunity to learn more about the World Ba
nk's activity in these areas and to share your own experience – the chal
lenges and opportunities you’ve encountered –in supporting entrepreneu
rship and innovative financing for sustainable development. \n\nThe conver
sation will be facilitated by Hanadi Jabado\, Director of Accelerate Cambr
idge\, at the Cambridge Judge Business School. Hanadi will draw on the aud

 https://conversationwithworldbank.eventbrite.co.uk*\n\n*About the presente
rs and their work*\n\nRanda Akeel and Simon Bell are senior members of the
World Bank's Middle East and North Africa (MENA)\, Finance and Private Se
ctor Group.\nAlthough the countries in the MENA region are generally of mi
ddle income\, they share many characteristics of low-income countries. The
re are many unemployed graduates\, while the private sector seems to gener
ate mostly low-skilled jobs such as in textile and garment manufacturing.
This creates a disconnect between people's expectations and the available
work. There is a need to generate more jobs for young skilled workers and
for women\, and creating an innovative private sector is a key part of thi
 s. Randa and Simon are exploring various aspects of these challenges.\n\n*
About the facilitator*\n\nHanadi Jabado is Director of Accelerate Cambridg
e and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Cambridge Judge Business School. H
anadi has founded businesses in several industries\, including education\,
online retail and property. Having learnt about the challenges that start
-ups face\, she co-founded Glymon\, a consultancy serving new ventures. It
s ethos is growth through partnership. Hanadi used her multicultural backg
round and experience with new technologies to co-found Ecamb\, a business
accelerator aiming at helping entrepreneurs to succeed globally.
