DESCRIPTION:The properties of diamond are extreme in many aspects: thermal
 \, mechanical\, optical\, and electronic.  Its mechanical robustness and o
 ptical brilliance lead to its popularity in jewellery and lend it an aura 
 of glamour.  Its industrial applications run the full range from the glamo
 rous (quantum computing and luxury speaker domes)\, to the not-so-glamorou
 s (waste water treatment and road planning)\, but its properties drive it 
 to exceptional performance in all cases.
