DESCRIPTION:Bridging the gap between Industrial and Interaction Design to
develop better products and services for the physical-digital age\n\nIn a
future where digital services and physical products come together\, it see
ms like the tech community is having the greatest influence on our world.
In some ways\, this is great\, but we seem to have forgotten those designe
rs with the talent for crafting physical forms that can fit into our hands
\, our homes and our lives.\nFor a future Internet of Things we need to be
tter engage Industrial Designers in what we do. This talk will explore how
we do that.\n\nAbout Jason\n\nJason Mesut is Head of User Experience at P
lan Strategic\, a Product Strategy consultancy that helps companies work o
ut what to do next. He advises traditional physical product-based companie
s on how to embrace digital services\, and for digital services companies
how to better embrace physical products.\nJason's been a frustrated physic
al product designer ever since he completed his degree course in Industria
l Design and jumped into the amateur world of digital.\nOver thirteen year
s\, he's seen the digital industry and his own career grow at exponential
rates\, while his talented Industrial Design friends and classmates plugge
d away at designing 'real' objects with very little recognition or reward.
Through this time\, Jason has worked at a management consultancy\, in-hou
se at a classic bricks and mortar organisation that went digital\, as well
as working through the ranks at a mix of respected UCD\, digital\, brand
 and marketing agencies.
